Review | Pyunkang Yul Moisture Serum

In today’s post, I’ll be sharing my review of the Pyunkang Yul Moisture Serum that I received in the Day 23 box of the Beauty & Seoul 2021 Advent Calendar.

Pyunkang Yul

About The Product

This serum contains coptis japonica root extract which helps to soothe and provide hydration to the skin. Incredibly lightweight, this serum spreads easily and absorbs quickly in to the skin providing skin with moisture and nutrients. The result? A balanced, brighter, healthy-looking complexion. Formulated to help skin find its optimal proportion of moisture and oil for a balanced, healthy complexion. As with all Pyunkang Yul products, this serum is free from artificial colours, dyes, fragrances or irritants.

How to use: After cleansing and toning, gently massage evenly onto face and neck. Then pat gently for full absorption.

Pyunkang Yul

Quantity & Packaging: I have a 9ml deluxe sample size, but the full size is 100ml. It comes in a dark blue bottle with a black screw-on pipette dropper lid. The white label on the bottle has a nice texture that looks and feels like Korean traditional paper.

Appearance & Texture: A lightweight white emulsion like serum that feels soft and silky on the skin.

Scent: No artificial fragrance and no detectable natural scent either.

My Experience

I was expecting this to be some kind of translucent thin gel-like serum, but surprised to see an opaque white lotiony liquid instead. It seems a bit globby and bitty on the pipette dropper and when I squeeze the dropper to get the product, it comes out like a lotion with some tiny clumpy bits that melt down to be more milky. When massaging it into the skin, I was pleasantly surprised with a very lightweight, fast absorbing, smooth texture, that gently nourishes my skin and leaves it feeling soft and supple without any greasy or sticky residue.

Although it’s a serum, this is actually perfect for me to use as a final step moisturiser on my combination skin type. And although I like the nourishment of Pyunkang Yul Nutrition Cream, I actually prefer the Pyunkang Yul Moisture Serum for being lighter whilst still adequately moisturising my skin.

Anyone with dry skin might even like to apply the Moisture Serum first and follow up with the Nutrition Cream, which work really well together in deeply moisturising and nourishing the skin to give a healthier, plump and youthful complexion.

In the cold weather when my skin is feeling extra dry the perfect trio is: Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner > Pyunkang Yul Moisture Serum > Pyunkang Yul Nutrition Cream.

Whereas in the hot summer weather I would only go for this duo: Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner > Pyunkang Yul Moisture Serum.

    1. OMG you too? It’s really a pain right? I’m always having to position the dropper at different angles and it barely sucks up anything, I’ve resorted to just tapping the product out instead of struggling with the dropper now.
