Review | Missha Vita C Spot Correcting and Firming Ampoule

Vitamin C products are often ones I struggle with, as many a time they end up either oxidising and/or smelling bad, or feeling too oily, yet I’m still always on a hunt for my perfect Vitamin C product as I want to reap the fantastic antioxidant, protecting and brightening benefits of it. I’ve come across a few mild ones that I do like and although they don’t give quick results compared to more potent concentrations of Vitamin C, I still prefer the mild gentle yet still effective approach.

One of those mild and gentle Vitamin C products that I like is the one I’m reviewing today, the Missha Vita C Spot Correcting and Firming Ampoule, which was recommended a while ago by another blogger (you can read her review here). Upon her recommendation I told my sister to buy it as she lives in Korea and has quick access to the product, she used half the bottle and then brought the rest to me 6 months ago when she came home for the summer holidays. I didn’t start using it straight away and have used it once a week or every other week for the past few months. It’s gentle enough for me to use every day but I have so many other products in my collection to test out that it’s taking longer than normal to finish.

Now on to my review, I’ll first share some general information about the ampoule and then write about my experience with it so far.

Quantity & Packaging

40ml in a brown-black glass bottle with a screw-on pipette dropper lid. The packaging has some bright yellow accents in the product name and on the rubber squeeze part of the dropper lid, which is eye-catching against the silver label and lid. I like that it is in a brown-black UV-protected bottle so there’s less chance of it oxidising through the container too quickly.

Scent

According to Missha it doesn’t contain artificial fragrance but it does have naturally scented oils such as Grapefruit, Orange Peel and Lavender; I mainly get a citrus smell from this but it is quite subtle and not overpowering.

Appearance & Texture

A yellow lightweight gel-like ampoule that absorbs quickly without a sticky residue. The tiny orange capsules you see within the liquid might be oxidised Vitamin C as I was given an already open bottle by my sister to use, and looking at other photo reviews the colour is slightly different. I haven’t experienced any problems with it though but I will be sure to finish it quickly and repurchase a new one soon.

My Experience

I loved the texture of the Missha Vita C Spot Correcting and Firming Ampoule the moment it touched my skin as it isn’t greasy or sticky and it absorbs fast whilst still giving my skin some hydration. On top of the beautiful texture, I also haven’t experienced any orange staining, pungent metallic smell or tingling sensation that I get from more potent vitamin C products.

Looking at the ingredients list I can see a host of notable brightening ingredients such as Seabuckthorn Water, Licorice Root Extract, Niacinamide, 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, Tranexamic Acid and Arbutin so it’s not just Vitamin C doing all the work. It also has many skin-strengthening and hydrating ingredients.

It looks pretty promising in terms of targeting spots, hyperpigmentation, brightening the skin and aiding in well-ageing too. Personally, I haven’t seen a major difference on any individual areas of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation but I have noticed my overall complexion certainly does look brighter immediately after use and steadily with continued use.

My skin also feels hydrated and plump, and looks slightly tighter (in a good way) and more refined. I haven’t noticed new blemishes occurring whilst using this ampoule either. I’m sure if I have the Missha Vita C Spot Correcting and Firming Ampoule consistently in my skincare routine all the claims will be even more apparent.

All in all the Missha Vita C Spot Correcting and Firming Ampoule is a winner in my books; I can even let the odd essential oil content slide in this case as it works so well for me, isn’t overpowering and feels great!

Here are my reviews of some other gentle brightening products that I like:

Jumiso All Day Vitamin Brightening & Balancing Facial Serum

AXIS-Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum

Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop

P.S: for a more potent Vitamin C, I like SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Serum but it’s quite pricey and not a gentle approach, so products like this Missha ampoule and the others linked above are even better for me.

  1. Great review! I’d love to try this Misha vitamin C ampoule! It’s been in my wish list for a while, but it’s not available in my country and I love trying products before buying. I read so many good reviews, I might even buy it without trying it first.
