Review | Toun28 L2 Scent-Free Lip Balm

In today’s post, I will be sharing my thoughts on the Toun28 L2 Scent-Free Lip Balm that I got in the Day 3 box of the Beauty & Seoul 2020 Advent Calendar.

Description

Toun28’s Scent-free Lip Balm uses a rich combination of plant-based oils to nourish dry or chapped lips. Formulated with nourishing cacao seed butter, olive oil, sunflower seed oil, primrose oil and squalane, this food-grade balm restores lips’ plumpness and provides a natural sheen. Gentle and safe enough for the entire family, even babies and pets.

Appearance & Texture

When you first open it looks like a smooth white balm and when you touch it, it melts down to a lightweight thin oil texture. It’s like how some oils harden in the cold but melt easily with warmth from solid to creamy to liquid. It’s advised to keep it in a cool dry place and avoid exposure to high temperatures because of this.

My Experience

I like how this Toun28 Lip Balm is made with only edible allergen-free ingredients so it should be suitable for sensitive skin, and as the box states it’s “A lip balm for those who have pets or are sensitive to scent” too. I actually prefer stick or tube-type lip balms, my favourites being the DHC Lip Cream and the Glossier Balm Dot Com, but since I received this little tin in a beauty advent calendar and saw that the ingredients list was pretty natural and good for nourishment, I was curious about it and thought if I don’t like it for my lips I can easily use it for my cuticles or any dry patches on my body.

I actually ended up liking the formula but would have loved for it to be in stick form. Granted the formula would have to change in stick form so that it doesn’t melt into a liquid and leak so a pot is the only way in this case. The lip balm looks like it’s going to apply thick and sit on top of my lips, but with a gentle swipe, it actually feels really lightweight, smooth and nourishing on the lips. It also doesn’t feel clammy on my fingers and is comfortable on my cuticles.

I’m quite particular with pot lip balms, I swipe over it gently and never dig, but as you can see in the picture above it seems a bit gloopy which is because I gave it to my dad who was in need of some chapped lip repair and when I took it from him to take pictures I noticed the smooth flat surface had changed. My dad loves this lip balm from how it feels to how it is unscented and how it really helped moisturise his lips; he even called it his saviour, so that’s saying something. Although I also like it, I very rarely suffer from chapped lips so I’ve ended up letting my dad keep it as it will be more beneficial for him.
