Review | Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream [AD]

In today’s post, I’ll be sharing my review of the Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream that Wishtrend kindly sent me. I’ve reviewed the original version of this cream on my blog before which I purchased myself but since Klairs have made some formulation and packaging changes I wanted to try this improved version and see if it suits my needs. I’ll first share some general information about the cream and then write about my experience with it.

Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream

Description

The Rich Moist Soothing Cream has reached 1 million bottles in total sales, becoming one of the bestsellers. This cream makes skin the most comfortable condition by balancing proper oil and water balance. It boasts its lasting moisturization, non-irritating formula, oil-water balance, light but cushiony texture, the perfect balance between lightweight and buttery. The Rich Moist Soothing Cream enhances the skin’s ability to repair cells by strengthening the protective layer of dry and sensitive skin from the inside out. With its spreadable and non-sticky texture, it absorbs effectively on the skin and boosts the skin’s ability to retain moisture. Infused with yeast-derived Beta Glucan, this cream fortifies the skin’s natural moisture barrier, leading to more supple skin.

How to use:
After cleansing, prep the skin with the toner and serum. Lock in the nutrients with this soothing cream.

Quantity & Packaging

80g in a long soft squeeze tube with a blue screw-on cap. The original packaging was shorter and wider and had a flip-top cap. Personally, I found the flip-top cap of the old version to be more convenient, however, the new screw-on cap is more sturdy and secure so there’s no chance of the cap breaking or the cream leaking from it.

Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream

Scent

A very light and fresh essential oil scent, much lighter and barely noticeable compared to the old version.

Appearance & Texture

A white cream that has a smooth, soft and hydrating texture.

My Experience

If you haven’t come across this product before or read my previous review of it several years ago, you might be wondering what exactly has changed about the Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream compared to the original as I mentioned at the start of this post. I wrote about the packaging change above but more importantly, in my opinion, is the formulation change as Klairs took on customer feedback and reduced the percentage of essential oils.

Personally, I would have preferred them to remove lavender oil completely rather than reduce the amount, however, whatever they did reduce has made an obvious difference to how the cream smells and what it does on my skin, in a good way, as it’s now a much more subtle barely noticeable scent and hasn’t caused an eruption of whiteheads like the previous version did.

This is quite a basic medium weight cream that has a good balance of hydration, moisture and nourishment without feeling heavy or greasy as it absorbs quickly into the skin whilst still giving a healthy plump bounce to it.

I don’t feel any soothing properties from this cream though but I do still like how it feels on my skin and it compliments the rest of the Rich Moist series well. If your skin doesn’t have a problem with any of the essential oils and you’re looking for a good basic hydrating and moisturising routine then the Klairs Rich Moist line is for you. You can use the Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream in your morning and night time routine with any other products but I particularly enjoy using it along with other Klairs products in the following routine: Any Cleansing Oil > Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser > Klairs Supple Preparation Unscented Toner > Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Serum > Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream (> Any SPF in the morning routine).

No matter what I pair the Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream with it never feels heavy and actually helps to reduce any stickiness from products before it, because of its emollient properties. It’s a really great moisturiser and I can see why it’s a best seller especially now that the formulation is more gentle compared to before, however I’m partial to having no scented essential oils at all on my face so I would love Klairs to come out with a cream that feels exactly like this one minus the essential oils completely.

Where to purchase and cost? The Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream costs $26 and can be purchased on the Wishtrend website.
