Review | Abib Quick Sunstick Protection Bar SPF50+ PA++++

In today’s post, I’ll be sharing my review of the Abib Quick Sunstick Protection Bar SPF50+ PA++++.

This sunstick has been one of the most raved about on social media and in the beauty community. I first heard about it through YouTuber Soo Beauty a couple of years ago who loves it a lot even to this day.

What caught my attention the most was the shape of the bar as it looks pretty convenient so I wanted to give it a go too and see how the formula sits on my skin as well.

I briefly mentioned this sunscreen in a recent sunscreen collection post and today I’ll be sharing a more detailed review of my experience using it, but first as usual I’ll share some general information about it.

Description

Easiest way of protecting your skin from the sun. Sunscreen is the most important step in your skincare routine. Protect your skin at all times without having to deal witht he burden of using your hands! Experience how it perfectly applies to your skin with its wide stick. Protect your skin easily and quickly.

Refreshing texture without stickiness or uncomfortable residue. The molecules are bonded with hydrogen to control excessive oil and hydrate the skin. Additional skincare ingredients Acacia-peptides and Ceramides strengthen the skin barrier.

How to use:
Slightly twist the dial on the bottom clockwise for the content to come out. Don’t let the product come out too much. About 5mm from the container is the right amount. Directly apply it onto your skin by lightly dragging the product accross your face. Directly apply the product to any exposed areas of your body that need sun protection.

*As per description on Abib website.

Ingredients

Octyldodecanol, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Dibutyl Ethylhexanoyl Glutamide, Dibutyl Lauroyl Glutamide, Diisostearyl Malate, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate, Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine, Dextrin Palmitate, Octocrylene, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein , Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Water, Butylene Glycol, Saccharide Isomerate, Glycerin, Maltodextrin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Ethyl Hexanediol, Ceramide NP, Citric Acid, Sodium Citrate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol

SPF & PA Rating: SPF50+ PA++++

UV Filters: Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate (Octinoxate), Ethylhexyl Salicylate (Octisalate), Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate (Uvinal A Plus), Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine (Tinosorb S), Octocrylene.

Quantity & Packaging: 22g in a curved, short and wide black twist-up container. For my personal preference, I would have liked a matte black outer container rather than the shiny black plastic that it is. The curved shape of the product is fantastic though as it perfectly hugs the contours of your face and body for quick and easy application and also makes it feel like a bit of a massage.

Scent: None.

Appearance & Whitecast: A transparent yellow-tinged curved bar that doesn’t leave a white cast on any skin tone.

Texture & Finish: This sun stick is very emollient and gives the skin a very dewy yet soft to the touch finish. It can feel a little greasy the more you apply it but it’s not uncomfortable. In fact, it feels really moisturising on the body too, which is where I prefer to use it.

My Experience

If all sunsticks could come in the wide curved shape of the Abib Quick Sunstick Protection Bar, I’d be a very happy lady. I’m starting off my review with this point because the shape is honestly the standout feature as it is more convenient and comfortable to use out of the many sunsticks I’ve tried. As I mentioned earlier, the curved edges grip onto your skin and glide effortlessly over contours, giving a smooth tension-releasing massage as you go along, kind of like a gua sha tool.

Although the amount of product is similar to other sunscreens, it is shaped and filled in a way that makes it much wider than others, so it covers a larger surface area, making application a lot quicker for both the face and body.

As with most chemical sun sticks, there is no white cast and upon first application, it feels very silky soft, then, as you build up the layers to get adequate sun protection, it starts to feel more slippy and greasy but luckily on my combination skin type the slight greasiness doesn’t feel heavy at all, and dissipates after a while back to a dry soft silky touch.

I also found the Abib Quick Sunstick Protection Bar to give my skin a nice healthy glow which peaks through any makeup I apply on top. It not only protects my skin from the sun, but also acts as a glowy, smoothing and hydrating primer for my foundations. It seems to work quite well under and over all the makeup I own, and I’ve never experienced any problems with it bunching up or pilling into gritty rolls.

Another plus is that it has never made me breakout, caused any irritation or stung my eyes. It’s also very easy to wash off at the end of the day with a double cleanse and doesn’t clog my pores.

I would recommend the Abib Quick Sunstick Protection Bar to people with Combination and Dry skin, and if you have Oily skin, you might prefer the new Abib Airy Sunstick Smoothing Bar which has a semi-matte finish instead of dewy.
