Review | AXIS-Y Cera-Heart My Type Duo Cream [AD]

In today’s post I will be sharing my experience of using the AXIS-Y Cera-Heart My Type Duo Cream for the past 6 weeks. The Cera-Heart My Type Duo Cream was gifted to me by AXIS-Y along with their Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum and Mugwort Pore Clarifying Wash Off Pack in exchange for an honest review. They sent me these products after I explained my skin type and concerns which are: combination acne prone skin that is easily clogged but also dehydrated, and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation marks from past pimples.

Before I write about my experience with the cream, I’ll first explain a bit about the brands concept and their current skincare line.

AXIS-Y is a climate inspired skincare company with products that take into account how our skin is directly affected by our environment, the climate, temperature, humidity and other external stressors, and how we should care for it accordingly.

AXIS-Y have created their 6+1+1 Advanced Formula skincare line (611), for people with oily, acne-prone skin living in humid climates. Each product in the line is carefully formulated with 6 natural ingredients + 1 core functional ingredient + 1 special patented skincare technology, which work together to address a particular skin concern.

Although I’m not currently living in a humid climate, this line is still well suited for my combination acne-prone skin.

Quantity & Packaging

60ml in a green round jar with white lid. When You unscrew the lid there’s a plastic cover over the cream with a small spatula resting on it. Having to remove the extra cover each time I use this can sometimes be annoying, and although the spatula is great for hygiene purposes, I tend to not use it much as it’s easier to just lightly glide my finger over the cream to get the right amount for me.

Scent

Both sides of the cream do not contain any artificial fragrances and just have a natural unscented creamy smell.

Appearance & Texture

The Ceramide U Zone Cream is a thick white cream that feels quite nourishing. The Heartleaf T Zone Cream is a light-medium sky-blue gel cream that feels smooth and hydrating without any greasiness. The blue colour of the Heartleaf T Zone cream is natural from the ingredient ‘Guaiazulene’ and doesn’t show on the skin. Although there is a difference in thickness between the 2 creams, they’re both not heavy or greasy which is great for combination skin like mine. The Ceramide U Zone and Heartleaf T Zone creams mixed together makes a nice medium weight cream that feels both hydrating and moisturising.

My Experience

The gel type Heartleaf T Zone cream has an instant thirst quenching, refreshing and slight plumping feel on my skin. It has a nice light glide and absorbs well without leaving a greasy residue. However if I use too much it can feel slightly tacky and leave a visible shine especially on my forehead.

The Ceramide U Zone cream has a slightly thicker nourishing feeling with a smooth silky finish that also isn’t greasy at all and makes my skin look healthier when I use the right amount. Again, if I use too much it can start to feel slightly heavy and I have experienced a few small whiteheads on my jawline the few times I used too much.

So for both creams, I’ve learnt to be quite mindful of how much I apply. It seems that scooping out a pea sized amount of each cream can still be too much for me at times so I prefer to lightly glide two separate fingers over the top of each cream, mix that small amount together on the back of my hand and then apply it to my face

Over the passed 6 weeks I have used this duo cream in 5 different ways:
– Heartleaf T Zone cream for T Zone + Ceramide U Zone Cream for U Zone
– Heartleaf T Zone cream for U Zone + Ceramide U Zone Cream for T Zone
– Heartleaf T Zone cream all over
– Ceramide U Zone cream all over
– Mixed Heartleaf T Zone + Ceramide U Zone creams all over

I’ve found that in these cold winter months, using the Heartleaf T Zone cream alone either all over or on specific areas is not enough for my combination skin, but on days that my skin is feeling slightly congested it’s nice to apply just a thin layer of it specifically to those areas as it’s nice and lightweight. The Ceramide U Zone cream on the other hand has been fine to use on it’s own for dry/ dehydrated areas.

My preferred method of using these creams has been to mix the 2 together and apply it all over my face, as that’s what feels most satisfying for my combination skin type during these current cold winter months. It seems that this time of year, my skin loves both the hydrating plumping benefit of the Heartleaf T Zone cream and the nourishing moisturising benefit of the Ceramide U Zone cream in one, and mixing the 2 together also creates a nicer texture and consistency that isn’t too thin nor too thick so is still suitable to use on areas of congestion.

Even though I currently prefer mixing the 2 creams together, I still love that I have the option to switch up how I use the 2 creams depending on how my skin is feeling which will be great as the weather and my skin condition changes. I’m sure anyone who has combination skin like me would really appreciate the concept of this duo cream and I highly recommend you try it out, especially if you’re struggling to find what type of cream texture works better for you.
