Review | AXIS-Y Sunday Morning Refreshing Cleansing Foam [AD]

In today’s post, I will be sharing my experience of using the AXIS-Y Sunday Morning Refreshing Cleansing Foam, that was gifted to me by AXIS-Y in exchange for an honest review.

Before I write about my experience with this cleanser, I’ll first explain a bit about the brand’s concept and their current skincare line.

AXIS-Y is a climate inspired skincare company with products that take into account how our skin is directly affected by our environment, the climate, temperature, humidity and other external stressors, and how we should care for it accordingly.

AXIS-Y have created their 6+1+1 Advanced Formula skincare line (611), for people with oily, acne-prone skin living in humid climates. Each product in the line is carefully formulated with 6 natural ingredients + 1 core functional ingredient + 1 special patented skincare technology, which work together to address a particular skin concern.

Although I’m not currently living in a humid climate, this line is still well suited for my combination acne-prone skin.

Description

Our cleansing foam is set at pH 5.5 to cleanse the skin of dirt, excess oils, and other impurities deep in the pores without stripping the skin. With its special patent skincare technology, Aquaxyl, this cleansing foam keeps the skin moisturized and balanced. Our enhanced formula features the addition of even more moisturizing agents to guarantee a clean, yet fully moisturized feeling. We added double the amount of birch sap, as well as perilla leaf extract, rice bran, and heartleaf to leave your skin supple and dewy. *(as described on the AXIS-Y website)

How to use:
Gently massage a small amount onto slightly damp face. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water as hot water can cause dryness.

Ingredients

6 Natural Ingredients
Green Tea: Removes impurities, while leaving skin soft and moisturized
Allantoin: Stimulates cell proliferation and encourages new tissue growth
Chamomile: Promotes skin’s regeneration cycle
Licorice: Soothe highly irritated skin, eczema, and dermatitis
Calendula: Speeds healing of blemishes and acne scars
Centella Asiatica: Boosts skin’s natural healing process to prevent acne scars

1 Core Functional Ingredient
Birch Sap ‘Betula Platyphylla Japonica Juice’ (2,000ppm): Strengthens skin barrier, balances sebum levels, and moisturizes the skin.

1 Special Patented Skincare Technology

Quantity & Packaging

120ml in a white squeeze tube with a flip-top lid.

Scent

This cleanser does not have a scent to it at all, which I am very much appreciative of.

Appearance & Texture

A white almost pearlescent cream that turns into a luxuriously creamy and smooth lather when mixed with water. When you keep rubbing your hands together you can definitely turn that lather into a decent foam but you can double the size and create more of a large soft fluffy foam if you use a foaming net; a little goes a long way with a foaming net so the product can then last longer.

My Experience

Firstly, I find the name of the Sunday Morning Refreshing Cleansing Foam really motivating, whenever I read it, it gets me in the mood for a good cleanse and full-on routine.

Secondly, this might just be my current favourite cleanser!

I prefer the soft pillowy feeling of foam cleansers over gel but many foam cleansers often have too high of a pH which can strip the skin leaving it dehydrated. However, this foam cleanser is at a gentle pH 5.5 yet still foams up really well especially with a foaming net and cleanses just as well while managing to keep the skin hydrated.

This foam cleanser feels soft, creamy yet refreshing with a slight hydrating undertone during the cleansing process and once washed off my skin feels really clean and supple, looks brighter and doesn’t feel even a little bit dry or taught. It also washes off very easily with water, does not feel too slippery or soapy, and doesn’t leave any residual film on the skin either.

I don’t feel like I need to rush to get my hydrating toner and moisturiser on seconds after cleansing and can take some time with the next steps of my routine.

I’m trying to pinpoint exactly what makes this different to other low pH foam cleansers I’ve tried this year and why I like it so much, because if you’ve been following my blog you’ll know there is another one I’ve liked quite a bit from a different brand, but somehow this one is impressing me a touch more. It most likely is due to the specific blend of key ingredients in this cleanser as I know my skin loves Licorice Root Extract, Green Tea Extract, Rice Bran Extract, Centella Asiatica, Houttuynia Cordata Extract and Calendula Extract so even though this is, of course, a wash-off product so the contact time of these ingredients is minimal, I’m still happy to see all of these soothing, balancing, and brightening ingredients in here. Then on top of that, the humectant ingredients help to keep it hydrating after washing the cleanser off and my skin feels balanced and comfortable without any irritation.

If you like foam cleansers but struggle to find one that doesn’t strip your skin of its natural oils, the AXIS-Y Sunday Morning Refreshing Cleansing Foam could be a good choice for you to try. As for me, it’s going straight onto my purchase/ re-purchase list!
