Quantity & Packaging

The I’m From Ginseng Mask comes in a clear jar with 120g of product. The jar has a brown coloured screw on lid and label which is aesthetically pleasing to me as I like plain neutral colours. When you unscrew the lid, there is a plastic hygiene cover over the mask protecting it from dust, dirt and accidental spillage. It also comes with a small spatula to scoop out the required mask without using your fingers.

Scent

Some say they can smell ginseng but it smells nothing like ginseng to me, instead I detect quite a sweet scent.

Appearance & Texture

An amber-coloured thick syrupy mask that melts down to a thinner texture when massaged into the skin but still has quite a gloopy drippy feeling.

My Experience

I’ve always been interested in trying the Ginseng-based products that I’m From offers because of the many benefits that Ginseng has. I usually like to enjoy a cup of ginseng tea to boost my health and energy. It’s a great antioxidant and revitalizer so being part of a skincare line would provide those benefits externally to the skin and be perfect for well-ageing and bringing life to dull complexions by improving the skin texture, controlling the skin’s balance of oil and water, and reducing the appearance of fine lines.

That being said, looking at other people’s reviews, photos and videos made me a little worried about the sticky-looking texture of the Ginseng line and if it will work well with my combination skin. Therefore, I decided to start off with a product from the line that can be washed off yet still give me the benefits, which leads me to this I’m From Ginseng Mask. What was even more exciting about the prospects of using this mask is that not only does it contain Ginseng but it also contains Licorice Root Extract which usually works really well for brightening my skin, so key ingredients-wise this pretty much sounded like the mask of my skin’s dreams.

I was a bit surprised by the I’m From Ginseng Mask, as I was half expecting to not like the texture and just endure it for the great benefits I knew I would achieve with continuous use, however, the experience ended up having some pleasant moments, particularly to do with the warmth, how it washes off and then the result it gives. Granted I was semi-right about the texture though.

It comes out of the jar as a thick syrup and glides smoothly across the skin. The thickness of it soon melts down to a thin consistency with the warmth of your hands and as you massage it in it heats up gently creating a warming sensation that’s quite relaxing and pampering as if you’re in a sauna. When you stop massaging the warmth subsides but it starts up again every time you massage. I love the warmth while massaging, it’s very luxurious and calming for my senses, but as soon as I stop massaging the syrupy nature of the mask starts to feel uncomfortable and slowly drips down my face, catching onto my eyelashes and lips, even with just a thin layer. For this reason, I can’t keep it on for too long and like to continuously massage it into my skin for 5 minutes and then wash it off straight away not giving it a chance to get to the uncomfortable stage.

Another pleasant surprise was the washing-off process, as this was the quickest and cleanest removal of a mask I had ever experienced. There’s no emulsification and no lathering when washing this mask off, it just removes instantly with minimal effort, all you need is water in your hands to swiftly wipe away the mask in one go.

After washing the mask off completely, my skin looks and feels like it’s just been exfoliated, nourished and hydrated at the same time as it is smooth, soft and supple to the touch, as well as a taught, plump, bright and a refined appearance with no more flakey dead skin cells.

I would recommend the I’m From Ginseng Mask to anyone looking for a bright, youthful and supple complexion no matter your skin type. Anyone with dry skin will adore the feeling of the mask on their skin. Anyone with oily skin might find it uncomfortable while it sits on the skin, but as it also balances the skin’s oil to water content it’s actually very beneficial for oily skin too.

  1. Yes to the texture comments! I have this one at home and while I love the warming sensation, I wish it would heat up on its own or stay warm once massaged. It does not give me breathtaking results but it is a nice treat and more of a support pillar.
