Review | I’m From Fig Scrub Mask [AD]

In today’s post I will be sharing my review of the I’m From Fig Scrub Mask that was kindly gifted to me by Wishtrend in exchange for an honest review. I’ll first share some general information about the mask and then talk about how it was for my skin.

I wanted to complete my I’m From Wash Off Mask collection so I asked Wishtrend for the 3 remaining ones I needed to try. In my previous post I shared my review of the I’m From Ginseng Mask and today I’ll be writing about my experience with the I’m From Fig Scrub Mask; also stay tuned for my next post which will be about the I’m From Beet Purifying Mask.

I'm From Fig Scrub Mask

Description

10 minute skin clearing fig & black sugar.
This scrub mask contains fig powder 1.2% and black sugar to gently remove dead skin cells for clear skin. A double exfoliator that softly dissolves dead skin cells while the black sugar helps with removing impurities entirely with a scrub effect.

How to use:
Use a spatula and scoop an adequate amount. Spread gently on the face and leave it on for 10-15 minutes. Gently scrub and rinse with luke warm water.

*As per description on Wishtrend website.

Quantity & Packaging

The I’m From Fig Scrub Mask comes in a clear jar with 120g of product. The jar has an aubergine purple coloured screw on lid and label which looks minimalistic yet luxurious. When you unscrew the lid, you’ll find a plastic hygiene cover over the mask protecting it from dust, dirt and accidental spillage. It also comes with a small wooden spatula to scoop out the required mask without using your fingers.

I'm From Fig Scrub Mask

Scent

This has a heavily perfumed warm fruity scent most likely from the artificial fragrance it contains.

Appearance & Texture

It looks like a thick brown sugar paste containing small sharp brown, black and cream-coloured scrub particles.

My Experience

Physical face scrubs can sometimes be a bit too harsh for the skin depending on what the exfoliating particles are made of, but as I’m someone who enjoys the process and quick smoothing results of physical exfoliation, I’m always on the lookout for scrubs that contain less abrasive gentle particles. The I’m From Fig Scrub Mask contains black sugar, fig powder, sweet almond seed and walnut powder to aid in exfoliation and somehow it is on the gentler side compared to other scrubs I have used in the past however it can still feel a little sharp if you scrub too hard so you have to be mindful of the amount of pressure you apply.

It applies on as a thick scrubby paste that I first massage over my skin paying closer attention to areas with congestion and visible dead skin cells, I then let it sit on my face for a few minutes before washing it off.

While washing the scrub mask off I noticed it emulsifies to a thin milkiness and the sugar particles melt away with the warmth of the water. It washes off really easily without leaving behind a film layer or scrub particles stuck in my hair. Although it doesn’t leave a residue behind, it also doesn’t leave my skin feeling stripped of hydration and oil, in fact my skin actually feels quite moisturised and supple straight after washing it off but I still have to continue with my additional essence and cream hydrating steps to further nourish and maintain the best moisture level for my skin.

My skin looks a lot healthier; radiant and smooth with refined pores and no flakes. I am also left with a temporary slight pink flush which is normal for me after a physical exfoliation as it stimulates blood circulation. At first, I was concerned I might be reacting badly to the product as it does feel itchy sometimes but as the redness subsides quickly and my skin feels fine after I don’t see the itchiness as an adverse reaction in this case. That being said this does contain strong fragrance and two types of nut ingredients, both of which can cause sensitivity or allergies so I will keep a further eye on it.

The one thing that bothers me is the strong perfume scent as I prefer either fragrance-free or fresh subtle natural scents so I wouldn’t use this too often on my face, maybe just from time to time when I feel like I need a good scrub. I don’t mind using perfumed products on my body though as it gives me a luxurious pampering sort of feel. I actually found that I love using the I’m From Fig Scrub Mask more often for my body, particularly my legs and arms as it does a great job of smoothing and nourishing my skin, as well as reducing the appearance of keratosis pilaris.

It’s also quite nice to mix in with the I’m From Honey Mask or I’m From Ginseng Mask which both act as additional nourishing buffers that slightly soften the scrub particles, making it feel more comfortable.

I would recommend the I’m From Fig Scrub Mask to those with resilient skin who want a quick fix for smooth skin and dead skin cell removal.
