Review | Heimish Artless Glow Base SPF50+ PA+++

In today’s post, I’ll be sharing my review of the Heimish Artless Glow Base SPF50+ PA+++. This product was part of my project pan so I’ve briefly written about it in several posts to do with the project on my blog this year and also part of a recent sunscreen collection post, and now that I’ve finished it I thought it’s a good idea to put all my thoughts together in a full review post. I’ll be sharing a more detailed review of my experience using it, but first as usual I’ll share some general information about it.

Description

Glow Face Priming Moisturizer with SPF! Moisturizer, Sunscreen to Makeup Base – Are there too many steps you can’t skip? This soft cream textured all-in-one primer serves as a moisturizer, face primer, and sunscreen with shimmery golden pearl glow.

How to use:
Apply a moderate amount of product on the face before entering make up step.

*As per Heimish website

Ingredients

Water, Butylene Glycol, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Phenylbenzimidazole Sulfonic Acid, Stearyl Alcohol, Triethanolamine, Octocrylene, Niacinamide, Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, CI 77891(Titanium Dioxide), CI 77019 (Mica), PEG-100 Stearate , Hydrogenated Lecithin, Glyceryl Stearate, Beeswax, Caprylyl Glycol, Carbomer, Adenosine, Disodium Edta, Tin Oxide, Carmine, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Flower/Leaf Extract, Origanum Majorana Leaf Extract, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Extract, Rosa Canina Fruit Extract, Fragrance

SPF & PA Rating: SPF50+ PA+++

UV Filters: Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate (Octinoxate), Ethylhexyl Salicylate (Octisalate), Phenylbenzimidazole Sulfonic Acid (Ensulizole), Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate (Uvinal A Plus), Octocrylene, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane (Avobenzone), Titanium Dioxide.

Quantity & Packaging: 40ml in a hard white squeeze tube with a metallic screw-on cap. I don’t know what it is about the packaging material but keeping it in my bag with other makeup products for a whole month caused the packaging to get messy and dirty by the end of it as you can see in the pictures below.

Scent:  A fresh clean floral almost perfume-like scent but not too strong or overpowering.

Appearance & Whitecast: A pale pinky-white cream with a fine pearlescence that gives the complexion a subtle yet buildable luminous glow. There is a slight milkiness but not a strong white cast on my light-medium skin tone and blends in to the skin well.

Texture & Finish: Lightweight and lotion-like. Feels quite moisturising and silky but not greasy. It leaves a soft silky luminous finish on the skin. If you look really closely you can see really fine micro shimmers on the skin but it looks more like a subtle luminous glow from a regular distance.

My Experience

The Heimish Artless Glow Base is a cream-type primer with a fine pearlescence that gives the complexion a subtle glow and also has added sun protection of SPF 50+ PA+++. I don’t personally consider the Heimish Artless Glow Base to be a true sunscreen because even though it’s stated to be SPF50+ PA+++, it’s more of a pearlescent makeup primer so in order to not look like a shiny disco ball I have to apply a lot less product than I would with a sunscreen and apply a different sunscreen before it to get adequate protection.

As a makeup primer under foundation, the glow this gives peaks through my foundation and makes my skin look healthy. On its own, however, it can look too shimmery in the sunlight although not noticeable in indirect light or shaded places. That obvious shimmer in the sunlight is because I try to apply at least 2 finger lengths worth of it to get some sun protection benefits too, but if I wasn’t using it for sun protection purposes I could use less and then it would just give off a subtle luminous glow. Although I enjoy the slight shimmer, it can at times emphasizes any textural irregularities and fine hairs when used alone so I prefer just a small amount under foundation.

I find the Heimish Artless Glow Base to be quite an accurate dupe for the Charlotte Tilbury Brightening Youth Glow Primer in terms of how it looks, feels and performs on the skin and minus the sunscreen aspect. So if you like the CT product but want to save more than half the cost, then the Heimish Artless Glow Base is for you. Whenever I wear either of them I always get compliments on how glowy and healthy my skin looks.

    I completely agree with you! The artless glow primer from Heimish gives a beautiful glow to the skin and works perfectly as a primer. But I would indeed not recommend using the product alone as a sunscreen 🙂
