Review | Klairs Fundamental Ampule Mist [AD]

The Klairs Fundamental skincare line has been something that has intrigued me for a while and after having already tried three products from the range (Klairs Fundamental Water Gel Cream, Klairs Fundamental Eye Awakening Gel, Klairs Fundamental Nourishing Eye Butter) I thought I might as well complete the lineup and try the remaining two products, so I requested to try the Klairs Fundamental Ampule Mist and Klairs Fundamental Watery Oil Drop, which Wishtrend kindly sent to me for review purposes.

In today’s post, I’ll focus my review on the Klairs Fundamental Ampule Mist, first with some general information followed by my experience using it for the past couple of months.

Klairs Fundamental Ampule Mist

My Experience

The Klairs Fundamental Ampule Mist is quite a powerful hydrating mist that sprays out a massive burst of hydration in just one spritz covering a wide area of my face and leaving my face feeling drenched if I spray too close. The mist is quite interesting because it seems lightweight and refreshing as it hits your skin but then it also has this film-forming quality that gives my skin a nice dewy glow but also feels uncomfortably sticky and it doesn’t really seem to absorb over time. Even after layering an emollient cream or light oil over it to try break down the sticky film, things just get heavier and don’t absorb well.

I have a combination skin type and I don’t enjoy sticky or tacky residues of any sort on my skin so I had to play around a bit to figure out how I could use this mist so that it wouldn’t slap me in the face with so much product in one go and then hopefully not be so noticeably sticky. To get it to not feel too sticky, I have to make sure to spray from a decent distance, stretching my arm out fully and then not press the spray down all the way. Doing it this way gives a lighter mist rather than a strong burst but it can be a bit bothersome as it’s much easier to just pick the product up and use it as you normally would. Although the mist falls on my face lighter and the stickiness is reduced, I still notice some tacky residue on my skin that doesn’t absorb.

The Klairs Fundamental Ampule Mist is not my preference for my skin type as a general skincare mist however I found a way I can still use it in my routine that doesn’t bother me too much and that is as a makeup setting spray. You read that right. The Klairs Fundamental Ampule Mist works really well as a makeup setting spray because of its film-forming properties – you just really really have to be careful not to drench your skin by spraying too close or too much otherwise you of course will ruin your makeup. After applying your makeup, very lightly mist it over from a distance and watch how it rehydrates and corrects cakiness, gives a gorgeous glow and then makes sure your makeup doesn’t budge for hours and hours. It still feels sticky but so does my favourite Charlotte Tilbury setting spray, that’s why I had this idea. This might not work for everyone but it worked for me and you might want to see if using it as a setting spray works for you too, because if it does then considering how much product you get in the bottle compared to how much product comes in setting sprays, I think this is a pretty good deal.

As a skincare mist, if you have oily skin, or a combination skin type and you don’t like the feeling of sticky or tacky residue left on your skin from products then you probably won’t like the Klairs Fundamental Ampule Mist either as you could find it too heavy.

The Klairs Fundamental Ampule Mist is definitely more of a supplemental product for people with dry skin to spritz on throughout the day to boost their skin hydration levels and lock in nourishment. Those with dry skin will absolutely love the refreshing yet nourishing feel that this mist gives them as well as the beautiful glow it gives the skin.
