Review | By Wishtrend Quad Active Boosting Essence [AD]

In today’s post I will be sharing thoughts on the By Wishtrend Quad Active Boosting Essence that was kindly gifted to me by Wishtrend in exchange for an honest review. I’ve used this essence for almost 3 months now and I’m ready to share my experience with it so far. I’ll first share some general information about the essence and then talk about how it was for my combination/ acne-prone skin.

Description

This essence is recommended as a serum booster that contains ‘Quad Active’ Ingredients: 3 Complex Ingredients (Morus Alba Bark Extract, Nelumbo Nucifera Leaf Extract, Schisandra Chinensis Fruit Extract), Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Centaurea Cyanus Flower Water, and Propolis. These ingredients are widely known to help with anti-inflammatory, anti-pollution, and anti-bacterial effects to maintain your skin to stay healthy and lively. Also, with supporting ingredients Black Tea and Honey, it provides moisturizing effects to the skin. Recommended using this essence in between your toner and serum step!

How to use:
Apply 3-4 drops on your palm and gently pat over the face. Pat lightly until it fully absorbs. (Recommend using this product in between toner and serum step.)

Quantity & Packaging

100ml in a transparent amber colour glass bottle with a gold screw cap. The product packaging looks and feels quite luxe, however I’ve noticed that the cap doesn’t screw on properly and keeps clicking then continuing as I turn it, so it’s not 100% securely closed.

Scent

The By Wishtrend Quad Active Boosting Essence is fragrance free.

Appearance & Texture

A pale amber coloured essence that it quite thin and lightweight but with a slight bouncy viscosity that can get sticky if you apply too many layers, but feels soft and silky with just 1-2 layers.

My Experience

The By Wishtrend Quad Active Boosting Essence didn’t have the obvious straight from the get go spot healing/ anti-inflammatory benefits as I had hoped, but it only contains 1% propolis extract so my expectations and mental comparisons were unrealistic. That being said, with the combination of the key acne fighting and skin moisturising ingredients, it does help keep breakouts at bay over time and give my skin a plump youthful glow while feeling lightweight yet adequately hydrating.

I tried using it in 2 ways:

My preferred method is to cleanse > use the By Wishtrend Quad Active Boosting Essence in place of a toner > then apply the By Wishtrend Pro-Biome Balance Cream straight away. This combo has felt quite lightweight, soothing and refreshing on my skin without feeling sticky or clogging my pores.

The other method I tried was to cleanse > use the By Quad Active Boosting Essence in place of a toner > use the By Wishtrend Polyphenols in Propolis 15% Ampoule for added benefits > then apply the By Wishtrend Pro-Biome Balance Cream as a complete set, but I find the additional step makes my skin feel slightly sticky for a while until everything fully absorbs.

I do still like the ampoule from this line and will be writing a dedicated review about it in my next post, but I prefer using the products separately; By Wishtrend Quad Active Boosting Essence in my morning routine, and By Wishtrend Polyphenols in Propolis 15% Ampoule at night after a much lighter weight water-like toner.

I haven’t yet tried Wishtrend’s recommendation of using the Quad Active Boosting Essence between the toner and serum steps, but from what I have experienced so far, I can tell that method will only be suitable for my easily clogged pores if I use a very lightweight water-like toner and serum. This sort of extra layering also sounds more suitable for drier skin types looking for extra moisture and hydration, however my combination dehydrated skin prefers less layers.

I do enjoy using the By Wishtrend Quad Active Boosting Essence quite a bit, especially as an essence toner and I find that it’s a safe bet for my easily clogged acne-prone skin. It delivers what it says, albeit at a slow pace.
