Review | Benton Fermentation Eye Cream

In today’s post, I will be sharing my review of the Benton Fermentation Eye Cream that I got in the Day 6 box of the Beauty & Seoul 2020 Advent Calendar.

Benton Eye Cream

About The Product

This super nourishing eye cream contains fermented ingredients like Galatomyces Ferment Filtrate and Bifida Ferment Lysate that work to help hydrate and brighten the under eye area. With long term use, this eye cream can help improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also works to prevent your skin from damage caused by pollution and stress.

How to use: Add a little bit to your ring finger or pinky and gently dab under the eye area. I prefer to apply my eye cream before my moisturiser for better absorption.

*as per Beauty & Seoul website

Quantity & Packaging: I had the 10g sample, but the full size is 30g. It comes in a black narrow squeeze tube which is quite hygienic and allows you to squeeze out thin lines of product.

Appearance & Texture: A midweight white coloured cream that initially comes out as thick and pasty but melts down to a smooth and buttery feeling.

Scent: No artificial fragrance or detectable natural scent, maybe just a fatty cream smell if I really get a good sniff.

My Experience

I mentioned in my unboxing post that although I’m not into eye creams I was actually looking forward to testing this one out because of the many rave reviews I’ve seen. The inclusion of fermented ingredients like Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate and Bifida Ferment Lysate is what excited me the most about this as I wanted to see how/ if they work for hydrating and brightening my under-eye area.

Now that I’ve finished the tube, I can report that instead of eye cream, I actually enjoyed using this as an all-over face cream. I felt like it made my cheeks look plump and bright with continued use and it also felt quite nourishing and comfortable, giving the right amount of moisture for my inner and outer dehydration, while not feeling greasy over oilier areas.

But as I said, I prefer this as a face cream and not an eye cream, because for my under eye area it was a tad too buttery and I ended up getting milia. It was also too pasty to apply to the eye area straight from the tube and I’d have to melt it down on the back of my hand before applying it. If I didn’t melt it down first it would end up picking back up off of my skin as I try to glide it or tap it across which was annoying but melting it down first prevented that. I also didn’t notice any significant brightening to my under eye area.

This is probably better suited for anyone with a dry skin type or anyone who isn’t prone to clogging/ milia around the eye area.

I’m not sure if Benton has a face cream with this exact formula but it would be great if they did as using a small tube of eye cream for the whole face would finish super quick.

Where to purchase? YESSTYLE / STYLE KOREAN

If you’ve used this eye cream before I’d love to know what you think of it. Also, I’m curious, are you like me and find eye creams a bit meh or is it a must-have for you? I’d love to know if you have any holy grail eye creams/ gels that you think might change my mind 😀

  1. Lots of people hating on eye creams as they say they’re just moisturises in teeny tiny jars with a crazy markup. Would you agree? For me it’s been at least 7 years since I bought my last eye cream 🤑 Do you feel that eye creams do something for you that a regular moisturiser cannot?

    1. Totally agree with that. I always encourage to check the ingredients list before opting for an eyecream as its often the same as face cream. A lightweight non-clogging face moisturiser is much more worth the price. The only thing that might be different is when caffeine is included as I’ve yet to see a face moisturiser with that, have you come across any?

      1. Yeah I think it depends on the type of dark circles or undereye bags you have. I find that caffeine helps to temporarily constrict the blood vessels in the area so reduces puffiness for a while. I honestly just prefer a good nights rest and something cold on my eyes the next morning though 😀 But for sure, when it comes to fines lines and wrinkles around the eyes, then good hydration and nourishment from a face moisturiser is the way to go.
